About him
Here I am - fleshy, blinking bewildebeest on the vast, blowy digital playing field. Decidely chilled in mid-winternet. I'm a Cold War Baby - I really dont think this global market, the sales in souls (or mates), is quite right.
I appreciate film, jazz, classical and much world music. Spanish and Middle-Eastern music sends me loopy---in a good way. Not to mention Monk and Mobley. Ex-musician in the folk world. Most musics that are acoustic and involve breath, wind, wire, wood and or metal will have me obediently hypnotised or salivating like a Pavlovian meerkat.
I'm a reader of fiction, particularly a little postmodern American lit. Or: I have ambitions to be better read, being fascinated by technology and science in fiction(not sci-fi). Having been a musician---scheming and sweating to transform obdurate, silent, stationary electric wheelchairs into roaring Lamborghinis---I'm fascinated with how human-made mechanical structures come to life, whether it is text, image or actor. I love drama and film but temperamentally sometimes I could do with kicking the poets/mechanics/Trotters out of the republic. But maybe this is badly disguised irritation with the drama of dating and profile writing.
Like most people I am contradictory. Yes! Great wisdom I have deduced from years of acute observation and experience!
A crush on Bruckner's and Mahler's slow movements at the moment. This is without an anorak or detailed knowledge of the score or anything. I just enjoy the drama. And the harmony...
With the right person I am warm, demonstrative and listen but also respect boundaries if need be. Can be both extremely stiff and irreverent, warm and aloof. I can be difficult too - but readily devoted to women with generic stamina, spirit, and an attention span. Prone to sedulous patience in return.

The List - or chemistry set, for dating experts (and maybe you feel as awkward about such lists as I do):
Curious, comic, difficult, flexible, loving, sensual, conventional, ugly, unpredictable. Dead ordinary. Glamorous. Eccentric.
Reliable.
Maddening.
How's that for adjectives ? Or labels ? If one accepts some contradictions in one's selves and in others' - and in the business of writing profiles - maybe that's a sign of being fairly sane.
If there's a cliche about a woman being captivated by a man with his attention focussed on mending a plug - or whatever it is that's to hand, I havn't done any DIY for a long time - I am exactly the same way about her passionately focussed on telling this listener about something.
I like unique personalities with warmth and curiosity above all, whether outgoing or introspective.
She likes fiction and/or drama. She can get wholly engrossed in a narrative - spoken, read, written, acted or watched - and live in it. And step outside of it. She can write, in English - but doesn't have to be English or be like them. She likes music or perhaps plays an instrument or sings. World, jazz, classical music - or late romantic is good.

Well-travelled is a plus.
Likes irreverence - a stern, oxymoronic stipulation that she like being uncontrollably childish and ridiculous for its own sake.
Failing contradictory qualities, I'll go for warmth and generosity. Along with curiosity, tact and diplomacy, these are most compelling to me.

I should say (in trepidation but from a little experience): if you are looking for see-where-it-goes, warm and insouciant fun, please do be fairly clear at the outset. Zero against it, one cannot presume, but just need clarity.
