About him
Although I can be quite shy, I am told I have a good dry sense of humour. I am generally at my best when among a small group of friends.
I am fit and active and I love the outdoors and everything in it. I am an experienced mountaineer and have travelled adventurously to many wild areas of the world from the Arctic to Patagonia and from the deserts of the Middle East to those of America. However, I am probably still happiest when sitting on top of a Scottish mountain or walking along a remote Hebridean beach.
I take a thoughtful and, I hope, rational interest in the world around me and I read widely anything from classic novels to serious science books as well as plenty of lighter things in between.
I enjoy cooking for my friends when I find the time; an evening of interesting, intelligent conversation over a good bottle of wine is always a great pleasure.
