About him
Going into 2021, cycling is now a bigger part of my life, so my ideal match would ideally have to be into cycling too (even if only just a little bit, like owning any kind of bicycle). So, if you are not, or cannot stand cyclists, probably best not to bother reading any further.
I have been described as mad as a hatter but mostly harmless. I endeavour to be kind to all, have a positive outlook and try not to sweat the small stuff. I am an animal lover, especially dogs and horses. I like to keep myself fit (throwback from my army days as a PT instructor) but not in an extreme, or obsessive way.
As mentioned, I am a keen cyclist and would very much like a companion to join me, rather than end up as a cycling widow. Though not necessarily someone into cycle racing, or hardcore audax riding (e.g. riding LEJOG at a whim), just someone that enjoys cycling that I can go out on rides with. (unless you want to do epic stuff of course).
I have done a fair few cycle tours in mainland Europe and in Israel, amongst other places and I've done Lands’ End to John O'Groats (LEJOG).
I am a fan of picturesque and mountainous places like the Lake District, Scotland, the French Alps and Cornwall. I was born at the seaside oop north (west coast), though I do not have an accent.
I have an eclectic taste in music, and my interests include art, history and science. I like eating out and going to the cinema, the theatre, or even the opera. Sometimes just a relaxing evening in by the fire, with a glass of wine and a good book (yes, I read actual books! I like to keep home as a computer free environment). Alternatively, out for a dash on the bike to burn some excess energy (because I've eaten too much rich food), or just for a good walk.
I am an honest (sometimes too honest), easy going chap and low maintenance (can that statement apply to men the same as it does to women?)

So what am I looking for in my ideal match, obviously the standard good sense of humour, tolerant, nice personality and be into cycling (a bicycle can be supplied if required, lol). Someone who appreciates the outdoors, good food & good wine, going to the cinema, or the theatre. But also someone able to appreciate the companionable silences without having to rely on the other to entertain. As I mentioned earlier, with regards to the cycling, I am not necessarily looking for someone mad into cycle racing, or riding across the country on a whim, just someone that enjoys cycling that I can go out on rides with.
